Environment

The environment in which an animal lives can impact behavior to an extreme degree. It is often the culprit for poor litter box use in cats, destructive behavior in dogs, and general stress in most species.

Common contributions resulting in poor human-pet relationships:

  • Litter boxes in areas with unpredictable sounds

  • Lack of vertical space

  • Items left within pet's reach

  • Too few or no escape routes

During a consultation, we will walk through your home and yard to determine what we can do to change the environment to better suit your pet's needs, as well as your own. This can also shed light on habits you may not even know your pet has!

Meeting other pets as well as other family members can also be beneficial in getting a well-rounded picture of what may be causing your pet's behavior issues.

Environment is just one factor of ensuring success for your pet. Closely related is management.
