Cats

Here at Two Tails, our primary focus is on cat behavior and helping keep cats and their owners living in harmony.

Cat's are social creatures, but in a much different way than dogs are. While dogs thrive in social situations and prefer close bonds, domestic cats tend to manage their social interactions by defining the space around them. This poses some potential issues in multi-cat households. When cats don't have adequate access to hiding spaces, litter boxes, vertical space, and attention you'll start to see behavior issues arise.

Even in single-cat households, social interactions with dogs and people can affect stress levels and cause cats to "act out". And while many people are prone to think cats are being spiteful when their behavior is less-than-admirable, they are really just reacting to their environment.

This is why it is so important for us to come into our clients' homes! We get to see first hand how social interactions between cats, cats and dogs, as well as cats and their people are contributing to their behavior.

We can work and provide solutions for a variety of behavior problems. Common ones include:

  • Inappropriate elimination (not using the litter box properly)

  • Scratching furniture

  • Inappropriate chewing

  • Scratching/biting humans

  • Fighting with pets in the home

  • Fearful behavior (hiding, avoiding humans)

  • And more!

If you are having problems with any of the above behaviors, then Two Tails Behavior Consulting can help! Once we discuss the issues you are having and explore your cat's environment, we will tailor a behavior plan just for you and your feline friend.
